Multidecks and glass-door cases for the food hall, sized to the run you have and sited for the way the hall is laid out.
The workhorse of a food hall, and the place doors matter most: in a hot building they are the difference between a case that holds temperature and one that never stops running.
Cold well underneath, glass over the top, sized to the counter run you have rather than the one you wish you had.
Glass-topped or glass-fronted, and sited away from the frontage if you possibly can. Sun through a window onto a freezer in July is a losing battle.
Garden centres take deliveries in volume. A cold room keeps that stock out of the displays, so the cases you paid for are doing display work rather than storage work.
The four questions we hear most from garden centre owners, answered straight.
Most display cabinets are built to run in an ambient temperature of 25 degrees. On a sunny day a glass-fronted food hall passes that well before lunch, and from then on the cabinet is working outside its design. That is when you get failures. Closed cabinets, doors rather than open shelves, shade from direct sun and a clean condenser are what keep you inside the limit.
Buy capacity for your busiest fortnight, not your average week, and put the extra into closed rather than open cabinets. A remote unit lets you move the heat out of the room; a plug-in unit puts it straight back into the space you are trying to keep cold.
Usually. What decides it is access, power and how the floor is built, so we look at all three before anything is ordered. If something will not work, that is the cheapest moment to find out.
Yes, and it matters more here than in most shops. A condenser in a garden centre collects dust and pollen quickly, and a cabinet that is never serviced tends to fail in the hottest week of the year rather than in February.
We work across the UK, mostly from Newcastle down to Surrey. Send a floor plan, or a photo of the space, and we will tell you what fits and what it costs.
